Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I join the parish?
To join the parish simply fill out the Welcome to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church form found in pews and return to the office by dropping it into the collection plate. Or you may download a copy here. If you are already an Episcopalian, complete the form including the request that your membership be transferred from your previous parish. If you are new to The Episcopal Church plan on attending an "Inquirer's Class" or speak to the Rev. Dr. Sarah Rieth. The Inquirer's class is intended for those who either simply want more information about the Episcopal Church and/or want to be formally Received or Confirmed into the Episcopal Church by the Bishop.
Q. How do I arrange for a Baptism at the church?
Baptisms are always performed in the context of Holy Eucharist during Sunday Services. There are no private baptisms. Please contact the Rev. Dr. Sarah Rieth to set up a date for Baptism and to arrarange for pre-baptismal instruction. Download the Information Sheet of the Sacrament of Holy Baptism here.
Q. How do I enroll my child in Sunday School?
You may register your child at any time during the sc hool year by bringing your child/children to Sunday School and and filling out a registration form in person. Sunday school begins at 10:30 in the classrooms in the Sanctuary hall. The teachers bring them to church at The Peace to join their families.
Q. How may I be confirmed in the Episcopal Church?
Young people are prepared for Confirmation by attending Sunday School classes in the 7th and 8th grade. Adults may prepare to be confirmed or received (if already confirmed in another church) by arragement with clergy.
Q. What are the requirements for having a wedding at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church?
The Church Canons now require a minimum of 30 days notice in order to officiate at "A Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage". Please be certain to allow ample time to clear the dates for rehearsal and ceremony with the priest BEFORE finalizing your reception plans. Contact the church for an information pamphlet.
Q. How do I arrange for a funeral?
Please phone the parish office of Rev. Dr. Sarah Rieth. The Prayer Book directs that "the death of a member of the Chur ch should be reported as soon as possible to, and arrangements for the funeral should be made in consultation with the Minister of the Congregations" (BCP pg. 468) This is important for many reasons, not the least of which is that it provides the c lergy with the opportunity to offer their pastoral ministry as well as that of the parish. Under no circumstances should the day and time for a funeral be set without first consulting with the clergy.
Burial privileges in the St. Andrew's Memorial Garden are available for eligible communicants of this Parish.
Q. How do I leave a legacy to St. Andrew's?
Please contact the clergy for more information.
Q. How do I place a name on the Prayer List?
To place a name on the prayer list, call or e-mail the office. Those placed on the payer list will be listed in the Sunday bulletin and the Prayer List document for 4 weeks unless the office is notified otherwise. These people are prayed for at each service on Sunday.
Q. Can I rent the Church or any of St. Andrew's other facilities?
We do rent our facilities to outside persons or organizations. Please contact the office to submit your requests to Jon Wells our Building Use Manager.
