Priest 

Our priest is The Rev. Leslie Burkhardt

The Rev. Leslie Burkardt comes to St. Andrew's, Charlotte from St. Andrew's in Greensboro, NC.  Leslie served in Greensboro as the Associate Rector for two years.  Her areas of focus included  pastoral care, and development and growth of young adults and families.  She facilitated a midweek adult Bible Study and other senior programs of the church.  She tended to pastoral care to multi-generations of the parish, spiritual direction, and other priestly duties.  She had pastoral oversight of the Youth Minister, Children's Ministry and Spiritual Formation of the parish.  Leslie's undergraduate degree is a B.A. in Religion with an emphasis in Christian Education.

She served as Lay Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministries at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Kansas City, before heading to seminary.  Leslie graduated with an M.Div. from the Seminary of the Southwest, in Austin, Texas, in 2006.  It was in seminary where she met her husband, Jay Burkardt.  Leslie has been married to Jay since 2005. Jay is also a priest in the Episcopal Church.  His experience is in Episcopal schools as well as the parish.  Leslie's first call was to All Saint's Episcopal Church, in Corpus Christi, where she served as Associate Rector.  On September 2, 2009, Leslie and Jay welcomed their first child, Noah William Burkardt to the world.  They also have a dog, Nita, who is very much a part of their life and family.  Leslie serves on the Christian Education Commission of the Diocese.  She enjoys leading retreats, writing, yoga, running and other forms of exercise. Her passions are formation, spiritual direction, preaching, and liturgy.


Our Organist and Choir Master is Charles Crutchfield. Charles graduated from University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He also studied organ under Dr. Adolph Steutermann in Memphis Tennessee. Prior to coming to St. Andrews, he was organist for Little Church on the Lane and St. John's Episcopal Church. Charles is a member of the Charlotte Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
